U-M Partners
To capitalize on existing strengths from across the institution, and leverage ongoing activities and investments in the six research challenges, the Office of the Vice President for Research will partner with units across the institution in multiple ways.
A Council of Institutes has been established with representation from cross-campus units with interest and expertise in the six research challenge areas. The council will serve as a steering committee to select individuals to participate in the various research accelerator phases and will meet regularly to leverage existing networks and activities as teams progress through the phases.
A Deans Advisory Committee has been established with representation from several U-M schools and colleges. This committee will help ensure faculty and expertise from across the institution are engaged in the initiative, and identify areas of alignment with ongoing activities and priorities in these units.
An Implementation Team composed of staff from university-wide support offices including Research Development and Innovation Partnerships within OVPR, the Office of University Development, and Government Relations will support the effort, ensure alignment of the initiative with other synergistic activities (e.g., campaign planning, state/federal initiatives), and aid with development of white papers, proposals, and other products generated by the research teams.
